Hello and welcome, I’m Matt and I specialise in combining CGI, retouching, visual effects and animation to help global agencies and brands create unique and effective imagery.
I take all of the principles of lighting, composition and colour, gained from a vast experience in creative and high end retouching, and apply them to CGI. This means the end result is very similar to great photography. On top of this, I add sprinklings of visual effects with state of the art software used in the film and games industry.
With this expertise I can offer bespoke solutions to your projects. I’m a partner to the creative vision from early stages to the end of the project – ensuring the consistency of the aesthetic as well as the technical execution.
Culture and technology is constantly evolving so I endeavour to stay up-to-date and offer realistic and relevant solutions for high end creative productions. Avoiding typical problems associated with these productions is also paramount and I aim to consistently provide a smooth overall experience.
My history in the creative arena has seen me collaborate with many global brands including Adidas, Nike, Mini, Unilever, Sky, Pernod Ricard, Diageo and Samsung. There have been tool-kits and image suites for global markets, complicated creative compositions, visuals for pitches and much more and across many sectors. For a lot of these projects I have had a leading role – ensuring the quality of output and adherence to timings and budget.

A huge experience of high end retouching, creative retouching and general Photoshop madness brings an incredibly influential presence to all of the CGI work. The crossover knowledge of photography, lighting, composition, compositing and grading plays a massively important part of my approach to every project, professional or personal.

Creating a CGI ‘digital twin’ of a product has huge benefits and can really help to create a smooth and consistent work-flow.
Using photography, line drawings or CAD files, I can produce a clean, accurate model. The materials, textures, labels and branding will then replicated and the result will be a digital asset – a ‘twin’ of the original.This asset is then ready to be taken into the virtual studio for lighting and rendering photo realistic images. A suite of beautiful product shots is born. Supplied in different formats for all your needs.
But that’s not the end…
Now that this digital asset exists, further adjustments, updates and additional shots are easy to implement – with the quality and consistency remaining.
But there’s still more…
What if we want to take it into future Key Visuals? Animate it? Add visual effects such as smoke, fluids and particles? The asset is there and ready to go. -
Whether it’s bringing to life and developing ideas from black and white sketches or drawing from references to create bespoke imagery, the perfect combination of CGI experience and highest quality Photoshop skills means generating seductive visualisations is a breeze.
Just as important as these technicalities is the artistic flair to actually make it look good.

Quite often an idea has already been fleshed out, visualised by a design team and is approved by client and ready to be executed properly in all it’s glory.
This is where I would pick up the project and take it from visual stage to high resolution final asset.
Quite often the final asset would be exactly that – an asset which is produced in a way to facilitate further use. An intuitively made image that can be adapted by artworking teams to work across all the necessary sizes for the desired media specification (OOH, digital, print for example). It can be thought of as a mini tool kit.
Compositing
CGI, live footage, stock shots, shoots.
Compositing is a core discipline of 2D image manipulation. Being able to blend photography in a tasteful and believable way underpins the success of an image. This is taken into the world of 3D and motion with the same expertise and eye for detail.

Research and development – making it pop, literally.
Consistently striving to push forward means consistently developing technical ability and know how. This knowledge and passion can be transferred to your project, resulting in fresh perspectives and eye opening visual treats.

I use Houdini, which is the industry standard for visual effects and simulations in the film and games industry.
It excels at particle, fluid, smoke, fire, cloth and destruction, as well as procedural world building and a whole lot of other things.
I can create and integrate such effects into animations, stills, video footage – or even just as standalone pieces of work.
This is where we can create something really special.

Over ten years experience elevating all kinds of imagery across multiple industries including sports, fashion, luxury goods, food and beverage, tech.
It’s important to have a very good understanding of lighting, composition and style. With this, photographers and art directors can trust that the end result will be the highest calibre.
